Overview
If a piece of software will be used for more than 2 hours a day, it should be a
windows application?
While web sites have been the favourite distribution model
for software over the last 5 years, that may be about to change. Windows applications
are now faster to develop, easier to deploy and unquestionably a richer experience.
Benefits
- Continue working when disconnected
- Best usability option
- Now very easy to deploy
Technologies
.NET Framework 3.0 is Microsoft latest framework for software development. SSW
uses .NET 3.0 as our preferred development environment for web, Windows or rich
client projects because of its technological and productivity advantages over other
platforms.
Building on .NET 2, the framework includes four major new components:
-
Windows Presentation Foundation is the new .NET 3.0 replacement for Windows Forms.
It allows designers and developers to seamlessly work together to produce stunning,
pixel perfect user interfaces integrating 2D, 3D, video and animation.
-
WCF is a service-oriented messaging system which allows programs to interoperate
locally or remotely. More powerful than legacy remoting and web services architectures,
WCF ensures reliable delivery, security and transactional support for communications
between systems.
-
allows for building of task automation and integrated transactions using workflows.
ClickOnce is a new deployment method for .NET 2+ applications that allows for your software to be installed in one click, without all the normal installation screens that make the install process painful.
Software updates also become automatic, so your users never have to check for, or manually download new versions of your application.

SQL Server is Microsoft enterprise level database platform. We use it as the preferred back-end database for all windows applications we develop. This ensures the best level of availability, security and scalability of your application.
